Sundays are great when other people do our writing for us. Keep the letters inbound, folks! The Czar might have this up even sooner, but he prefers a Windows operating system and lately it takes forever for this thing to remember it’s been powered up and connected the whole time. Something is going terribly wrong with it. Anyhow, JAB is here to tell you what’s what:

Might a minion make a modest prognostication regarding Obamacare—The Musical***?

Given that HHS Sec. Sebelius says no numbers will be released for a couple of weeks…and given that not nobody not no-how will admit to knowing even the roughest of estimates as to enrollments…and given that the enrollment of enormous numbers of healthy young ‘uns is absolutely required to prevent a total and complete collapse for the ACA….

You’ll know that the White House knows the numbers and that the numbers are getting all death-spirally when you see the first public service announcement from “Organizing for America” targeting healthy 25-35 year-olds, urging them to buy an ACA-approved-policy…as a patriotic duty to support the President.

Think “Life-of-Julia,” but now with added urgency. I love the smell of desperation in the morning.

****Sorry, made that up just so I could asterisk footnote. But given the mixture of drama (Congressional hearings), intrigue (you spent $600K on what???) and comedy (see Jay Carney), it just might make it to a Broadway theater near you.

This seems a fair bet. As a followup thought, the Czar might suggest that many, many Millennials think the Democrats are a joke. In an age of smart phones and BYOD connectivity with ready, instant access, the notion that they need to use 20-year-old technology and a 1-800 number is completely appalling to Millennials, especially to buy something they probably don’t need. Heck, it doesn’t take a Common Core math genius to realize the annual fine is only 10% of the monthly premium.

No matter how you slice it—and pray please slice it to pieces—Obamacare is a disaster proposed by people who do not understand insurance, passed by people who do not understand politics, and enforced by people who cannot understand the economy. What could go right?

The Czar of Muscovy

Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
