Bad news: Israeli is professional Israel-hater

Germany is usually pretty sensitive about this stuff at the official level. How did this happen?

The decision to present the Order of Merit was made on the recommendation of the Lord Mayor of Tübingen, where Ms. Langer lives, with confirmation from all the usual departments involved in bestowing such honors, including the Foreign Ministry.

Aha. Tübingen is a hard, hard left university town. Madison or Ann Arbor with a terrorist-sympathizing bent. The student paper is the Marxistische Zeitung (or was when your Volgi passed through). So, no surprise that Frau Langer lives there and no surprise that they’d nominate her. It’s deeply disappointing that the “usual departments” didn’t stop it because her marvelous “human rights” work (Europe’s substitute for religious virtue) is so tainted by her vicious hatred of her native land.

So eine Unverschämtheit.
