So How Dumb Can the Media Get? Actually…
Think you have a bad day from time to time?
Imagine the morons at KTVU Channel 2 in San Francisco/Oakland, who read on the air the names of the Asiana airline pilots: allow the Czar to quote, Sum Ting Wong, Wi Tu Lo, Ho Lee Fuk, and Bang Ding Ow.
If you think the Czar is kidding, you can watch a video as it went over the air, live, if you wish.
KTVU has of course apologized, and blamed the NTSB. The NTSB confirmed it was a summer intern who conveyed the joke names to KTVU, but since NTSB policy never releases the names of pilots prior to the official report, there are still questions to be answered. How did this remotely occur?
Island Dweller also wrote us to point out how perfectly this proveswhy the public freaking hates journalists:
This is an excellent illustration of how the media never does research on information they obtain – they merely pass on what they have obtained, so the editing has been done for them by the provider of the information and the media just repeats it without thinking. In this case they rose magnificently to the bait and swallowed all of it. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.
Well, two thoughts on this.
First, yes: the old ruleback when the news media knew what the hell they were doingwas that a source must be verified and confirmed by a second primary source before you air anything. Today, someone calls in and claims to be an authority, and the morons in the media simply run with it in an effort to be live 2 seconds sooner than the other channels. Things are really that bad.
But even so, really? The media is so inept that they didnt get the joke? No onenot the person who took the call, not the fact checker who reviewed it, not the editor who greenlit it, not the writer who drafted the report, not the producer who approved it, not the teleprompter writer who pushed it, not the graphics designer who created the screen shot, not the director who queued it, nor the newsreader who read figured out in time this was a total joke? You can roll your eyes over how goofy this is, but take a moment and think how many people reviewed this and couldnt work out the obvious gag here?
Second, this says a lot about the government right now. The NTSB, let the Czar assure you, is among the most humorless bastards in government. From what we saw recently with their Star Trek parody, even the freaking IRS is a laugh-riot compared to the NTSB. If this came from them, wow.
And with that observation, this shows that in a Democrat-led administration that racism and stereotypes are rife. And why not? Look at how the President himself jams racial offense into pretty much everything he does. The President encourages this shit, whether he knows about something or not. He creates the culture that allows stuff like this to happen. This winds up being a reflection on him, and if you doubt it, take a look at the George Zimmerman travesty of justice to see how the President revels in racist attitudes.
Bang Ding Ow, though, that is pretty damn funny.

Божію Поспѣшествующею Милостію Мы, Дима Грозный Императоръ и Самодержецъ Всероссiйскiй, цѣсарь Московскiй. The Czar was born in the steppes of Russia in 1267, and was cheated out of total control of all Russia upon the death of Boris Mikhailovich, who replaced Alexander Yaroslav Nevsky in 1263. However, in 1283, our Czar was passed over due to a clerical error and the rule of all Russia went to his second cousin Daniil (Даниил Александрович), whom Czar still resents. As a half-hearted apology, the Czar was awarded control over Muscovy, inconveniently located 5,000 miles away just outside Chicago. He now spends his time seething about this and writing about other stuff that bothers him.
