Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) chastised a brigadier general for referring to her as "ma'am" rather than "Senator" during a Senate hearing on New Orleans' levee system yesterday. Some conservative voices have been decrying Sen. Boxer's action.

'Puter saw the footage of Sen. Boxer and the general. 'Puter thinks both the general and Sen. Boxer behaved appropriately and politely to one another. There is nothing wrong with a sitting United States Senator politely requesting a witness to address him or her as "senator."
