A funny thought: the brilliant gift of the 25 DVDs given to British PM Brown by President Obama might be region encoded (region 1 to be specific which is North America, minus Mexico).  Well, if Mr. Brown has a standard DVD player from the United Kingdom in his flat, it would be a region 2 DVD player and therefore unable to play the oh-so-thoughtful gift.
